VF36 vs GTPS01

well?

GTPS01 is with X-force headers.

Would be running 1.5bar with the 36, same as with the GTPS01

would port the 36

obviously would be using the factory twin scroll headers, ported.

-boost threshold, response, peak hp?

DarkMoose 03-11-2006 08:40 PM

probably better off using non factory twinscroll headers pete. I found them to be a fair bit cheaper. Also like u said port the turbo and ceramic coat the headers, turbo and dump :). VF36's are extreamly hard to find so if u have on thats great if not, prob better off looking for a 37. Peak hp depends what dyno u're using, it can be as little or as high as u want :).

factory twin scrolls are cast? are they not?

chasing good quality, sick of thin stainless, dont want to have to ceramic coat and/or wrap the headers.

You don't _have_ to ceramic coat, but every bit helps, i got a quote of just under 500 to cermaic coat headers, turbo and dump. why wouldn't u? If you're going to the trouble of porting then why not just finish the job properly? Shop around for twinscroll headers few good ones on the market.

Take allok at that, i was looking at that for my twinscroll setup.

twinscroll

Factory twinscroll headers are made of stainless steel just covered up with the heatshield, better than any ceramic coating or wrapping.Vf36 are rare but can be sourced, but if you want the choice of putting a bigger Comp wheel later down the track then go Vf37.

whats the performance diff between the 36 and 37. I understand they have different bearing configs (one is BB other is a bushed type)

They should flow the same air vol @ same boost...any idea on the difference in cost?

you can get these can't you Terry?

I'm going to ring JWS tomorrow to get an idea on pricing and availability...

VF36 Pete, do it ;)

207 de 05-11-2006 08:31 PM

what type of kw atw could you expect form a ported VF36/37?

what is the usable powerband? I know their all about response but I would imagine it would perform pretty good uptop too considering it's similar in size to a 34 + porting.

vf36 is BB...

vf37 is thrust bearing AFAIK.

VF36
Roller bearing version of the twin scroll VF37, also has a titanium turbine and shaft for even quicker spool. Same compressor housing as VF30/34, however twin scroll P25 exhaust housing provides slightly better top end output due to reduced exhaust pulse interference. This turbo is good for 400HP and used on JDM STI Spec C from 2003 onwards.

VF37 (thrust bearing)
Enter the age of twin scroll IHI turbos. Same compressor housing as VF30/34, however has a new twin scroll P25 exhaust housing that provides slightly better top end output due to reduced exhaust pulse interference. Twin scroll also provides better spool up for improved low down response over the VF30/34. This turbo is good for 400HP and used on JDM STI from 2003 onwards.

Basically it has a similar compressor housing to the vf22 but spool can't be esitmated. It depends on so many things, IC piping size, BB or thrust bearing etc.

A couple of links that may help
