Default Headers

Following on from Cooj and the boys talking about headers to suit the 2.5 OZ motors.
BT Revoultion are selling GT spec headers at a reasonable price over East.
Obviously if you are going down this track you would want to either Jet coat or wrap.
2 Questions in regards to an 06 sti:
Will there be much benefit fitted in conjunction with zorst, intake, FMI and max 18 psi boost and retune?
How problematic are these things in regards to cracking etc - Pete seems to have had some problems....
When this thing of mine finally gets done, it is only going to the shop once to be fitted for parts and once for a tune so I do not want to be going back and forwards all the time.....

If your only running 18psi, I wouldnt bother... The gain will be negligiable power wise, depending on how they are designed you will at least getter slightly better response.

I would recommend just getting an up-pipe and TBE system exhaust wise. Combined with the intake and FMIC and retune, it should give you some pretty good results. Should be an easy 200kw atw with those mods... might want to consider a bigger fuel pump though.

EDIT: WOOOOT!!!! 500 Posts!!!!

yer i have been told by many that the headers wont do much before 200-220@the wheel kilowatts... but as i am not to sure bout the 06's after reading that thread on westnet.. but after having headers on my car i can say u loose alotta down low power makes the car harder to drive... but when your on boost it definitely just pulls hard to redliine!

thanks

Just modify the stockers if anything Al.

Jump onto rexnet and do a seach for that CR 97 Rexy dude... he tested some tomei headers and as a result - made his car slower. Now before I get flamed by all of the warriors, just have a read of his thread.

He did 15 passes at the drags, had his motec retuned etc - the car ran consistantly slower ETs and terminals.

Thats enough evidence for me NOT to buy them.

Yeah I'm thinking I dun need em as well. Will not be going for a bigger huffer as I reckon withe the mods I am thinking of this thing should spool up very nicely without any lag. Jays car sounds like more than enough for me I think!
I was originally thinking around 250-270 ps would be heaps so if I get more than that with plenty of safety margin (max 18psi and 11:1 afrs I would be very happy)
ATM I am going zorst, CAI, silicon intake, FMI (for the bling and a bit of safety) and tune.
AL

Might give the new boys on the block some support.
Jaron, just put that thing of yours into the WOK for a power run, would be great to see 2 different tunes on the same dyno, u only running 15psi to you big poof?

haha yeh going to get retune to 18, but don't forget so far I am alone on this forum with 06 mods apart from the usual tbe and tune! Its good to see someone else giving it a go!
Are you going to have to chop the front bar for your FMIC or has process west got one especially for the 06?
Retune then wok! We should have on 06 off! (before everyone gets on there high horse I am not talking about a penis off)

Get your stock cast manifold ported and ceramic coated in and out, aftermarket cross-pipe, and port your stock up-pipe. Should be more than enough
