just driving today and heard a noise only in 2nd gear, sonuds like a grinding sound, similar to when a harley screams past ya window.... slight noise when grabbing 2nd, other than the noise, drives fine.

ive lost 2nd gear in a previous car but it didnt happen anything like this...

are my thoughts correct? is it gone?

if its like a tapping/knocking sorta sound, uve prolly chipped second, been there,

thats what im thinkin.... got new redline in so im not keen on draining it... will get under there and have a tinker.... crossing my fingers the linkages are loose and its not quite getting in there...

yeah maybe just drain abit and see if any chunks fall out. either way if nothing, put it on a tilt tray to ur preferred workshop!!1

yeah, im the process of lining up a new box and diff coz i cant find one the same ratio.... bugger taking it to a workshop.... im not one to pay the man, i prefer doing the work myself. a days work and it will save me a grand, and ya cant go wrong changing a box anyway...

Somebody here had a 4.11 JDM box and diff for sale?? I feel your pain mate, im changing my box next week too does anyone know how much should i expect to pay for a 2nd hand MY99/00 Sti box compared to 6MT Sti box? and will those fit my current MY00 diff?
