Default Water Pump Replacement with 100 000km service ?

Quick question, for those who have done their 100 000km service with timing belt replacement, did you put in a new water pump for piece of mind at the same time ?

If a genuine pump what brand do Subaru use ?
Is their a generic brand pump replacement ?
Cost of pump ?

Cheers

J

might as well do it as all the bits are off and it only takes 5 mins once the timing belt stuff is off. Cost of the pump should be around $120 for a genuine one. Thats how much MMS charged me when they did my 100K service and water pump. They didnt charge me any extra labour to do the water pump because as I said its a 5 minute job once the rest of the timing belt stuff is off.

To do the water pump alone with out the timing belt is a $500 job. with most of that being labour. So you may as well do it all at once.

Its cheap and its peace of mind. Do it.

I would, considering how much fun it is to do a timing belt on a subaru. While your down there you may aswell swap it.

OEM parts ftw.

Simon, your timing belt hadnt snapped had it? why did you replace it then? it wasnt broken...

Ahhh, the good ol "if it aint broke, dont fix it" philosophy

Trust me when I say your thinking will completely change when you experience a major failure. You start thinking of things to replace to prevent it from possibly happening again, rather than caring about it "when it happens"
