Lowering WRX
 

Anyone know the cheapst way to lower a 01 WRX..I Have 18"'s so dont need to drop it much?

I have some whiteline hatch springs. only rears though. PM if interested.

You'll need to go at least a 40mm drop IMHO with the 18s, it'll look like a rollerskate otherwise.

King Springs are the cheapest option. But to drop it 40mm, I think you'll need the super lows which give tragically bad ride comfort. Normal Lowered king springs arnt so bad and drop it about 25mm.

I suggest, you go for some whiteline springs. i got a set of progressive rate whitelines in my car and couldnt be happier. More expensive, but will give a supremely better ride than the king springs. The progressive rate means the spring is divided into two sections. the top section has a lower rate and the bottom section has a higher rate. That way, when you just cruising along and you hit bumps and stuff in the road, you dont get a spine shattering jolt through the car and the spring absorbs the bumb and the ride comfort is good. But having the stiffer lower section means that when you corner, the upper section compresses completely and the lower stiffer section takes over and you get excellent control through corners with out getting heaps of body roll.

The only bad thing about the whiteline progressive rates, is that when you go over a speed bump a little too fast the springs will "clunk" a little bit. Its not a bad thing, its just the top part of the spring compressing and the coils are touching each other.

ive got 18's and King Super Lows. PLENTY of clearance.

King springs mate FTW. Bit soft after a while, and in a ideal world you would want to replace your shocks to "Konis" if your getting into serious driving. If not - cheap and easy. Get a wheel alignment afterwards and your on the money. :)

Any thoughts on these guys...?

Is that installed, and 4 wheel aligned??
