EOI :- GoPro HD 1080P Motorsports - Group Buy

1 Attachment(s)
Guys,

I have been looking around at getting myself a GoPro Motorsports 1080 HD video camera. I was just keen to know if anyone else would be interested in purchasing one with me, to see if we could get the price down a bit. I have sent off emails already & am waiting to see what comes back for a quantity of around 5.

I am aware of the import duties of amounts over $1000 AUD and have also asked the question of combining shipping costs, but bundling 2 or 3 units together and I will get them sent to a couple of different addresses of mine.

At the moment they are coming in at around $295 ea AUD landed, which contains the following:-

1 HD Motorsports HERO Camera (5 megapixel)
1 Rechargeable 1100 MAh Lithium-Ion Battery
1 Waterproof Quick-Release Housing (180’/60 m)
3 Flat 3M Adhesive Mounts
2 Curved, 3M Adhesive Mounts
2 Quick-Release Buckles
1 Vertical Surface J-Hook Buckle
1 Suction Cup Mount
1 Three-Way Pivoting Side Arm Assembly
1 USB Cable
1 Component Video (HDTV) Cable
1 Composite Video + Audio out cable.

These items are brand new, never used.

AFAIK these sell for around the $370 - $400 mark, so hopefully I can get a good saving. The only thing that this does not come with it is a SD card to record to, but they are pretty cheap to get hold of these days.

Let me know if you are keen & I will see if I can get that price any lower. I am hoping for around $270 all in, but as I said I am awaiting a reply. I will need a $100 deposit upfront if you are keen & then you can come and pay the balance & collect from my place in Bassendean when they get delivered. Or I will go to around 25ks from my place to meet you somewhere, which ever suits you best. I am not making any money on this deal, but merely trying to save myself some by orgainising this group buy :)

I'd be keen mate

RoughStilin 20-08-2011 03:52 PM

Well thats 3 of us. Will have to wait until early next week to get a response from the supplier. But I think with 5 units, we should be able to get them for the $270 - $280 mark.

forde 20-08-2011 03:54 PM

Put me down for one please.

Mister Two 20-08-2011 04:12 PM

Yes Please. Put me down for one if its going to be around the $270 mark

I already have one of these (and they are fucking awesome!) But thought I would quickly just say that if you are group buying the gopros, perhaps also organise a group buy on class 6, 32 GB HDSD cards as well? All of you will need one. I grabbed mine from overseas on the net to save some coin, but you will save on postage if you group buy.
Just a thought?

Good luck!

Cheers
Sam

Good point Sam,

I will have a look and see what I can find. I am also looking at the bacpac's too, the LCD screens which go into the back of the camera. See what I can get these at.

Will keep this thread updated on my progress, in what I find.

REXXXED 20-08-2011 05:28 PM

IMO the LCD backpacs are very cool, but also very pointless and a waste of money and battery life in most instances. Trust me battery life is important. Consider purchasing a spare battery (as I have done) to give you that extra comfort!

These will never replace or be used as a normal video camera. Not good indoors or anywhere with artificial light or low light. They are absolutely fantastic for sticking to your car at trackdays and cruises etc. Or like I have done, buying a headstrap and wearing it when I go kayak fishing to capture that special moment. But never in these instances will you need a LCD screen as you aren't looking at it or holding it.

The only time I can think that it would be handy for an LCD screen is if you snorkel or scuba dive and want to take this underwater (works very well from experience) and see what you are filming. I just point and shoot and have never had an issue.

Cheers
Sam
