Hey guys, finally got round to sending my detector back to the states for a service for "self cal" and laser alerts every time I hit biggish boost, trust me nothing worse.

One time fee of US$59.95 gives a full service (A$130 including return freight), they replaced antennae, tuned and check with latest software, supplied new mounts and power cord.
The difference in this detecter is simply astonishing, cannot believe the difference in performance on multi novas after the tune up!! well worth it.
Thanks Jez!

Oh yeah, how nude do you feel without a detector for a few weeks........ :(
Good to hear that Al. I will likely have to do the same with mine in time. Agree naked is no way to roll around town.
Cheers Dave

Assume its the latest software, but not sure if its the software or the new antenae that has given me the better multinova results = + 2-300m..... in ideal location.

lol thats the only thing putting me off sending mine in for a service despite it screaming for a self cal.

Maybe if Jez can sort out a loan deal for me :p
found a good bargain here if these are any good??

That's a GPS based warning system, only useful where there are fixed speed cameras (ie not WA, but over east and UK) and it doesn't work for mobile cameras, handhelds or dash mounted radar.

I'm not sure of this brand. I know there are several well trusted GPS based warning units you can get but I cannot confirm that this is/isn't one of them.

Snooper/Whistler = Shit

Escort/Valentine/Bel = Good.

Yeah being a new antenna without self cal issues will definitely increase range!

I didn't notice a difference in detection range between versions 6.1 and 6.3 so i doubt the software has made much of a difference.

biggest difference is vertical mount.

I was looking at several online retailers selling the X50 and notice that there was a huge price difference between them ranging from $499 to $799 for the same model!

Anyone using the Valentine V1?

Valentines are very good, but not worth the asking price imo, An X50 or Bel RX65 will suit you just fine.
