hmm i think you might be right there fobz. Definitely worth a second look into no doubt, especially if the cameras get approved!

However as per a prior post i believe jammers set off a particular signal to the laser gun (not sure about camera in this case) , so not sure if the cops can still pull you over hindering ? if that exists or is possible.

Not sure if its true, but worth a second thought.

Infrared Devices

Radiocommunication devices that operate in the infrared bands are authorised by the Radiocommunications Class Licence (Infrared Devices). These devices operate in the frequency range 300 - 420 terahertz (THz), with a maximum power of 125 milliwatts. The operation of infrared devices must not cause interference to another radiocommunications device and the infrared device is not afforded protection from other radiocommunications devices. An apparatus licence is not required for infrared devices that comply with the requirements of the class licence.

From http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD//pc=PC_1275
Infrared Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs)

Infrared LEDs are typically used for communications purposes in very short range remote control or sensing applications. Maximum output power is typically less than 30 milliwatts. Interference is only likely to occur if the devices are operated in the same location.

Conditions of Operation
Frequency Bands and Power

The Radiocommunications Class Licence (Infrared Devices) provides for the operation of infrared devices in the band 187.5 to 420 terahertz, with a maximum output power of 125 milliwatts.

Interference Management

Infrared devices operating under the class licence must not cause interference to other radiocommunications services and will not be afforded protection from interference caused by other radiocommunications services.

Compliance with Standards

Devices operating under the class licence, must comply with all radiocommunications standards applicable to them. 'Standard' in this context means a standard made under section 162 of the Radiocommunications Act 1992 (the Act).

There hasn't been a user-upgradeable software fix for the RX65 since it was released. Unless they changed the software to include Ka-narrow band scanning, then it still won't perform so great against multanova. There was no real improvements from 4.5 to 6.1 versions.

if these are going to be used in the same way as Multanova's are, how could you be fined for having the jammer? surely they wouldn't snap a photo of each car that they fail to get a reading on? (jammers typically stop the laser from getting any reading at all).
i guess there's still the chance of being pulled over by a normal patrolman with a handheld and subsequently having your car searched due to the failed reading.
