Less Speed Cameras in City

Those of you that follow the news may have seen how 18 (out of the 25) of WA's speed cameras are currently being deployed in in the country.

There has been double the amount of deaths in the country than the city so far this year.

What's interesting was the state's opposition claimed that the cameras are being shunted out of Perth so they can try and catch up on the huge backlog of fines. (Road safety??)

What was also interesting was one of the reader's comments:

HA! No thanx! You guyz in da big smoke can 'ave 'em back!

On the subject, when the hell are some well organised anti-speed camera vigilante groups gonna do some demolition work on these things?

They have Captain Gatso in the UK ... apparently he controls an underworld group of about 300-600 members and they fuck up thousands of gatso cameras each year.

One technique is to throw a tyre over it and light the tyre. Or they cut them off the poles with blowtorches.....

In the UK they have security cameras watching the security cameras that watch the GAtsos..... so now Captain Gatso and his crew have to chop 3 things lol.

in the UK atleast Gatso's are placed at genuine accident spots and painted bright yellow, not hidden among fukin bushes and placed at the bottom of a hill.

in front of a wheelie bin, behind a bus stop with no street lights.

i`m with westoz on this
keep your cameras in perth
also agree that it would be more acceptable if they made it more visual to the people instead of hiding them and using stealth tactics and spin doctoring to make out its all for road safety

It makes sense to have them where a lot of the road fatalities occur. COUNTRY ROADS.

Yep, this weekend proves this (AGAIN!). Road toll rose by another 4 and 3 of those accidents were on country roads.. BUT you country guys will be safe as they wont stay in the country. 1) because they wont actually save lives and 2) they wont make anywhere near as much money as they would in the city.
