A tip if you are keen...

Install it yourself (or get a mate to do it). It may sound a bit odd at first,
but getting the normal installer to do it means 2 things.
1. The installer (who you don't know from a bar of soap) knows how it was
installed, and thus how to locate and kill it.
2. It will be installed in the same way as every other WRX that has been done
by that installer. Which means anyone who looks at how the
installer did it in their car will know how it was put into your car also.

Reduce the risk and install it yourself. That way you and only YOU know exactly
where it is in the car, and how it is wired into the system.

Cheers.

Depends on the alarm. If it does not integrate well, then you
may need to also change your alarm. Also keep in mind that
a little inconvenience can give a huge piece of mind.

Make sure you do your research. Depending on how you set it up
and its available options you can make it so that even
with the keys, the car will ring you when it moves (aka rolled
down driveway).

What sort of alarm do you have ? Where did you get it ?
Do you know the exact model number, not just the brand ?

NVRENUF 24-07-2007 07:35 AM

yeah well mine for example they said will integrate fine and they said they can do it all.

to be honest its $999 supply only and they said $1200 to $1300 fitted id probably just get them to do mine for the couple hundred dollars i know it will be all connected corectly. ill ask them to leave slack on the unit so i can relocate it in the car my self :)

This stuff has interested me quite a bit.

To be honest, I don't see the point of installing it on a $40k WRX, despite what some people think they are not a Lamborghini. I'd rather use that money on ensuring I have the best insurance policy available.

But, are there any insurance benefits after you have installed one of these items? What differences would there be between someone installing it yourself or having a professional do it? Surely the alarms and what not would go off when someone breaks into your vehicle causing you to get a phone message. If they then go to the extreme of removing the GPS, your car is as good as gone anyway.

Also the big thing, would you want your car back after it is stolen?
