I recently had a drive of a MPS 6 and it drove really well, very impressed for a bigger and heavier car, getting back in the WRX you can feel the difference in the two cars, it would be hard for the Mazda to really keep up with a WRX.

You forgot the monster torque difference:

STi = 340Nm
MPS = 380Nm

I have a 6 MPS after owning a modded Forester GT.

Having driven Ed's STi, I know that it would have had the stock MPS. Ed - you were probably caught off guard, MPS hit boost when you were still off. If everything was equal you would have had the 6.

3MPS and 6MPS although sharing the same engine are different animals. 3MPS is FWD with torque/boost limited in 1st and 2nd whereas the 6MPS is on demand AWD - which is good for hanging the tail out if you catch the system napping (scary but true - lol).
