$700 hahaha yeah what waxdass said. Try ebay. All HDMI cable will give you the same quality picture regardless of price. Hahahahaha

ive noticed the difference though...best way to go about it is, check the return policy of the shop you're gonna buy the cables from. Place i bought it from had 7 days no questions asked policy so i bought your standard component cables to run the video, a cheap HDMI and that expensive one and tried it on my projector running blue ray films....and yeah there was a difference. Blue ray films run on 1080p resolution same as HD DVDs however if you're gonna run your standard dvds (or even use an upscaling dvd player) your normal component/cheap HDMI should be fine...basically anything less than 1080p.

The best way is to try all the setups and if YOU can't tell the difference then buy the cheaper one.

Hmmm thats $70 a meter...and no not all HDMI cables are the same, the one i bought has extra insulation against cross-coupling since im running my cables through a tight conduit with a lot of 240V cables....as i said i tried different cables and that one looked the best

waxdass 17-09-2007 03:18 PM

there is a difference in quality yes. Alot of the cheaper cables now are HDMI.org certified, which means running at 1080p. Though thru these, picking out the shit ones compared to quality is another matter

I'd call up a few shops and asked them about their return policy...i found what i was after, i agree the cable was expensive but having tried at least 4 other ones this one was the best and having spend shit loads of money on the 1080p projector and the sound system....now im after a wirless PVR :D

Its worth paying for nice sheilding etc for wear and tear but at the end of the day a set of decent cables should be enough as its a digital signal, it will pretty much get there or it wont as its all 1's and 0's. You dont want cheap cables that may leak between wires but you dont need the best either. The mark up on these cables is astronomical. I cant see them being more to make than a regular old dvi cable.

I can get hdmi Cables wholesale if any one needs them

what do you need

mate on another note make sure you run one av cable to the projector too
becuase some amps have menu systems to set them up and often the menus are not shown on the hdmi cable and will require the av cable to show the menu settings

i had this issue with a home theatre i set up few months back.

I am in the middle of planning mine as well as im building at eh moment

so if you need a hand with anything let me know.

Regards

Tim
