Had my m1730 for four years, been through 6 sets of 3d cards and 3rd motherboard amongst things. Religiously blow dust out of them or the heat sinks clog with dust and loose efficiency and then it cooks itself. Notice the fans whirring flat out even at idle is a good sign it needs a clean. I'd say the screens fine n you got blown hardware

Thanks everyone. Will give Karl a buzz over shiftchange and seek his guidance and hopefully get it booked in for repairs. If it ends up costing too much it's hunt for laptop/tablet time!
