Since it's a work hack, it should have some sort of payload in the back at most times, which gives a bit more weight over the rears, promoting traction then it hits boost woooohoooo

As has been said they'll make more power than MOST wrx's hands down. BUT its not fair comparing a smaller turbo on a 2l to a 700hp Garrett (GT35's will be the new flavour of the month i reckon!) on a 4l.

Do the usual mods (edit, injectors, fmic, pump, 12psi ) and you'll have a lazy and reliable (with the BF's) 400-450rwhp.

Stay away from the BA's though. the 5 speed doesnt really rate to highly and tends to let go. Alot of the ford guys are doing the 6spd conversion. WOFTAM if u ask me! The 6spd(s) in the BF's are MUCH better and will handle far more abuse and power. Engine is similiar. all BF's get the F6 engine. Strengthed stuff basically! That said, im sure Guigebo's ute was a BA and that made huge power!

Buy an skip car and you'll probably run into problems (i havent ). Nature of buying Australian Cant really win there!

Doesnt seem as bargy as a commodore (ie my bro's R8 clubby making 350rwhp) and they make more of a lapper than a race car (not all of us are wannabe racers though!). WRX will be HEAPS cheaper on fuel. I think on a good week i'll average 15.5l/100kms. Not sure how that works as a company car and i know Nangs F6 uses less than that!

I guess main thing is not to buy a BA. Really worthwhile spending a few more dollars!

In terms of speed I got a 14.5 out of my manual stock. I bought the capa boost box thing but all that did was pour more fuel in. Actually made it slower down the drags.

Agreed 100%. I sold my XR6T ute about 2 months ago after owning it for 4 years. Biggest piece of shit I have ever owned. Certainly put me off ever owning another aussie ute. Even though the new maloos look hollywood. I get my new ute in a week or so and until then no one knows nothing.

Not so good when stuff is not tied down properly though.

In relation to the XR6T I owned Ive made a quick list of the pros and cons.

Pros:

1) You can pick tarts up in it and go out for dinner and not be embarrased
2) Does awesome skids. Also once you have got the back out you can adjust the angle and keep it going for ages.
3) You can get away with nearly anything with the cops as opposed to your wrx. I came around a corner in east perth once on full lock with smoke and shit everywhere and the highway patrol cops at the traffic lights saw the whole thing and did not care.
4) Resale value. I paid $42 for mine and sold it 4 years 83k later for 20k, which I thought was pretty good.
5) Ability to modify.

Cons:

1) Build quality. It is absolutely appalling. I dont think the server has enough room to hold a list of all the crap that went wrong with mine.

2) Fuel usage. I really dont care (my fuel bill is $200k + pa) but if you are a sole trader you need to take this into consideration. Mine use to average around 15l / 100km stock.

3) Tyres. It had this funny habit of wearing the back tyres out long before the fronts.

4) Understeer. You have no idea... You could change this into snap oversteer but the was far more to it than just knifing the clutch.

5) The brakes. Agreed you can buy the FPV version and get the bigger brakes but the stock ones are shit.

Basically I had a WRX and a 4x4 hilux for work. I sold them both and bought the ute. Fair to say that I now have another wrx and another hilux. That should tell you all you need to know.

If Toyota made the equivalent and charged an extra $15k for the pleasure I would have one in my driveway now.

If the F250 was not built even worse than the Falcon I would also have one of them.

Hell if you dont believe me talk to Dan who bought the Typhoon. I know he loves it.....not.

same with any car you will have your lovers and haters..

Dans had plenty of probs with his, ive had none with mine.. stock for stock mine kills my GF's 03 wrx, but so it should being 168kw vs 270kw... in the twisties hers would beat mine but the catchup on the straights would be huge
