You wouldnt catch me swimming in ocean at night!

Went fishing to floreat drain last night.

6.00pm my mate put a live bait (herring) out and it was soon was bitten strait off!

Bit later another big bite, it bit head off another herring clean off!

3rd time lucky! My mate hooked it!!!!!

Hour later we had what we first thought was a big ray right infront of us.
I walked in to where the "Thing" was and seen a huge dorsel fin! It was really hard to see because it was dark by this time and with the waves and spray off the waves the headlamps wernt doing there jobs at all.

I decided it was a good idea to try gaff it. I was using a 1 meter pole gaff haha Bit small. I walked in up to my waist and got right up next to it and realised it was a massive hammer head! It was about 6-8 ft long!!!!

First attempt at gaffing it , i missed! second go was good. Gaff went it right under it about mid section.

The shark went nuts! Knocked me down. I was soaking wet! Lost grip off the gaff. Fight went on for another hour and shark still had gaff sticking out!!!

It was cruising around with a shiney pole sticking out from the waves!

It ended up snapping us off :(

Scary thing is that there were people swimming same area 30 min before we hooked it!

Here is the story from my mate......

BTW my name on that site is tailor marc ;)

come night shark fishing with me in the fish finger at the five fathom , ideal time is when there is no wind and once the burley trail gets out its great to turn off the cd player and listen to the big splashes which come up through the trail , funnest thing is it's when you here them at the burley bucket which is fixed onto the boat

LOL i wouldnt swim there either ;) And its not cause the sharks worry me!!!

I'm not convinced it was a noah that bit the head off either. Well maybe a small one but usually they'll hit them from behind!

We've actually landed several 6ft bronzies and a 6ft MAKO (this kinda worries me as they can be dangerous) off south wall at hillarys during big NW storms! Shame u didnt get a decent pic too, dont see too many hammerheads these days which sucks :(

Floreat drain FTL. Sometimes u get REALLY lucky on the walk and see some naked hotties but sometimes u see some VERY dirty things

EDIT, got my drains mixed up! Floreat alot nicer than Swanbourne lol
