How to set up a projector?

Bought a fixed screen and projector, i imagine the screen is mounted first but what's the best way of selecting where on the ceiling the projector goes?

here you go mate... use that to calculate the distance you should mount the projector from the screen - depending on screen size etc.

just going back to this...

project calculator gives you two distances 3.54 - 4.2m due to my 100" screen. obviously the projector needs to be installed between these distances however what's prefferable? to mount it closer or further away?

SINISTR 11-02-2008 05:49 PM

hey Pete,

i think what that does is it gives you the optimal 'zoom' on the projector. If you install it at 3.54m from the wall you'll have it zoomed in and if you do the 4.2, it will be zoomed out to max - not that it makes any difference to what you're seeing but with a 100" screen you'll definitely want to be at 4.2m - otherwise you might find its like sitting almost in the front row of the cinema.

But yeah, anywhere in between those two numbers is good depending on your room.
