Internet help.

Hey,

The problem is that my adsl internet connection keep disconnecting then connecting straight after, every 5 minutes or so. I called my ISP (iinet) and all they could recommend was to filter my telephone to wall connection which i have done, but still the problem is there ..
I have no idea whats causing this to happen as ive had my comp setup in this exact way for atleast 3 years now, and the problem has only been happening recently in the past 2-3 weeks or so. My modem is a D-Link DSL-300+ Which ive recently been reading up on and its considered pritty old school for these days so maybe my model is out of date?

Any help will be appreciated!

Cheers
-Nick

Are you losing sync?

What's your line stats also .. Upstream/Downstream dB? If you are heading above 60dB on the downstream .. problems begin to occur.

I reckon either your modem has died or you have line issues

hmm weird i had the same problem a while ago, had a similar modem, we then got the filter fitted and tha fixed it, got no idea why urs is still doing it, filter should of fixed it, some kind of line issue must be.
I reckon either your modem has died or you have line issues
Possibly .. Depends if he's losing sync or not.

If he's not, i'd like to see the logs on the iiNet side, which you can do via the Toolbox, or call iiNet to see if they can see the disconnections on their side.

Either way, you really need to check your line stats inside the modem/router to see what quality line you have, this is done easily, and will give you an instant overview of your line.

I have 32dB on my downstream, and i'm syncing @ 8Mbits. It would be about 15Mbits if i wasn't stuck on a Telstra DSLAM.

Check if there is any 'fuzz' on the line. If there is, tell iinet and they will organise a tech to check the line out.

Hey Mate PM me your username I work for iiNet and will have a look into your connection history and see if i cant pick up on anything.

Did the CSR you spoke with do a Port Rebuild?

see if your modem is reporting and CRC errors.... that will tell you everything

I have exactly the same thing happening to me at the moment. It was all fine until X'mas day. That's when it starts disconnecting and reconnecting every few minutes. It also re-connected at a very slow speed. I'm with Up'N'Away, which is now Iinet. I've changed filters and tried 3 different routers already, still re-authenticating every so often. I also know another person that's having the exact same problem, he's with Iinet as well. had two Telstra tech came to check already. 1st one came and move my modem to another phone point, it authenticated 3 times and he deemed it fixed. I came home to find out that it has been re-authenticating through out the whole day. 2nd Tech came out and fixed a split wire at the front of the house, and then deemed it fixed. Which I came home to find that it's doing exactly the same problem....Please!!....if someone has an answer...let me know!
