Smart choice Anyway, i would say that a mazda 3 is a good choice, but with some quirks and funny mechanical designs coming nodobut from ford europe. Subaru liberty is a good choice, you will easily pick one up, and they are a great car to own, low on maintence and hold good resale. As someone on here mentioned saab 9-3 turbo are great value, and are one of the better euro's in terms of maintence. Just a little flimsy to drive. Suzuki swift, also a great car aswell for the price. good for maintence too. Golfs are ok, but you will forever be doing window regulators, ignition switches, starter motors and having bits of trim fall to bits, rub off etc.

Hyundai i30 - can't beat it for value.
But I'd prefer a Golf FSI - TDI is not worth it.
