Default Thoughts on a cheap turbo car (manual).....UPDATE

G'day fellow rexers... my son has decided he wants to move up from the Excel, spend is limited to around $6-7k. Obviously this puts him on the outer as far as any Subaru badge is concerned, 'cept maybe an RS Lib or the rare Vortex

Carsales and other sites regularly checked, this one caught his eye and didn't seem too bad at 1st glance but I'm thinking the claim to running 11's maybe a tad far fetched. Any other opinions on this, based on the stated mods?

Anyways, if anyone on here has, or knows someone who has a manual factory turbo car which fits the $ frame & needs a new home, shoot me a PM or reply here. All drivetrains considered, but AWD is the obvious preference.

If he is also interested mayb a VL. Easier to find parts for and a lot cheaper for parts if things go wrong.

hmmm the engine is farked on that one... bottom end needs work...

For someone on a budget i wouldnt be buying an older turbo car as if things go wrong which they are likely to do then will he have the money to fix them...

or drion in a new engine for less than 2 g, + 1g for tune.

have a look around. there are some people in car clubs that help for beer lubrication.

X2. Maybe its just me but i cant see the point of buying a VLT or S13 which are 20 years old and will probably just cost money to keep running!

My brother just sold his R8, bought a cheap (like 3K or something) 626 turbo as a run around til his new car arrives and its already costing him money!

Alright if you want a project car or have spare cash lying around but most young people probably dont.
