MY08 BMW 135i (pics posted now)

Ok I always had a bit of a thing for BMW 2002's. The new 135i Coupe is being released to Oz later this year. 3 ltr 6 cyl bi-turbo producing 220kw and 400 Nm of torque. RWD and about the same weight at my Libo. I am very tempted but some what uncertain about the bmw reliability issues associated with a new model. Anyone here have any info or feedback on the 335i as it is the same engine as the 135i.

So hot.

Seen the BMW Performance upgrades you can get? CF bits, awesome seats, short shifters, 6 pot brakes, etc...too bad they cost so f*cking much. Can option a 135i coupe up to near 100k with all the bits!!!

Seats are 8k, but the 6 pots are only 3k which isn't too bad I suppose!

Looks like great value for a fairly decent price in the scheme of things. From all reports I have read it has received great reviews bar the fact the interior is a bit lacklusture. Does anyone know if the 135i will be offered in the convertible variant in Australia though?

Any pricing been released yet? I really like the look of these cars and the potential seems unreal.

Yeah this has been on my radar since I heard about it last year. I'm looking at selling my Z later in the year and this is definitely one I'm keen to look at. When I first heard about it they were talking $85K, which I thought was still pretty good value for money considering it’s using the 325s motor and that car is $40k more expensive and not as quick. So for it to come in at 71K is fantastic. There isn’t really much else out there from a prestigious company that is that powerful for that price. I guess there is the Audi TT, but that’s $80k+ and not as quick. Obviously there’s the Sti and Evo X, but the quality of the interior vs that of the BMW is incomparable. And I think round a track the 135 would really push these 2. Ok it’s not AWD, but from all accounts it’s a very well balanced car so should be right up there. Oh and Jeremy Clarkson has given it his seal of approval, so can’t be bad!

Dave - if you search hard enough, there have been some large number of reported fuelling/fuel pump issues with the 335i - I haven't re-searched for a while to know if they have fixed the problem.

Check out Vishnu's mods whilst you're at it.

Sigh,

Just reading on the US forums about the 335... and then they post how much they paid for one. Makes me sad at how much extra we have to pay for the same item.

Edit... Now I read they get a 335xi - AWD loving... extra sigh.

USA: 335i = $38,900 (+ all the extras/on roads I guess). Converted to Australian = $42,000

AUS: 335i = $108,900 (+ all the extras/on roads)

Thats a difference of $67,000. Now luxury car tax, and all the other stuff can't add up to that much?

Wait 6 months for the tuners to release some cooking enhancements, will be an awesome package!
