Fuel Economy in TSI Golf

I put my first tank of fuel into the Golf today.

I am staggered at how good the economy is in something that I flogged for the majority of its 620KM's

Here are 2 photos:

I put 52 Litres in it.

I believe this works out to be 8.07L/100KM. Not bad from the claimed 7.7L/100KM that VW says!

I will see if that 710KM DTE stays true!

I would have expected better than that from the TSI. Maybe it will improve as its run in. I've been using the freeway more lately and I'm seeing 7.8l/100km from the GTI on its trip computer (720km on the distance to empty). Generally get at least 8-8.2 even with all the traffic lights on stock/rockingham rd.

awesome.

I think as fuel prices rise it there will be a section in Chestbeating, bragging etc forum for FUEL ECONOMY KING.

LOL tino... sounds like you need some man sized cams if your getting 240.

I think u may need to get the motec looked at.

I get 350-380 for a tank and I have 2.5 with cosworth cams also and a link so you may have super high fuel tune or something.

Maybe running 2 bar and 100% throttle for 100% of the time is not helping you

sure your not thinking of the TDi Andrew? Thats pretty good kms for a turbocharged/supercharged engine. TDi i would be hoping for closer to 1000km's

TDI would better but just figured that the 1.4 TSI would be noticably better than my 2.0 GTI. But the cars only new so it will probably improve.

....my 2.0l astra turbo with 270whp had a lifetime fuel avg of 8.7l per 100 :)

on the freeway it would sit at 4.6l per 100(when driving at 100)...custom tune ftw.

My new sti...less than 400km a tank so far and its stock :(

thats pretty damn good results Dan! My missus gets about that figure normally hence she only fills up every 2-3 weeks! Mean while the Lib of mine gets about drinks around 16 ltr to the 100 kms
