Cleaning the Mini radiator
Hey guys just after a bit of advice.
I've just pulled the radiator out the Mini (72 clubman) to replace a few hoses and the thermostat, I figure while I have it out I may as well clean it and what not. Never done it before, other than shoving the hose in one end, can anyone suggest how to go about it and what to use? I wanna clean it inside and out.

Give it a good shake to get rid of any loose calcified lumps, then mix up some caustic soda (wearing gloves & glasses) and pour in. If you put the radiator cap & both hoses on you can lie it on the lawn & fill through one of the hoses.
The caustic mix must be hot or at least warm to work. Swish it around every 5 minutes, then flush it out after an hour. Don't forget to hose out the engine too. Just use the hose & a can of cheap black enamel spray paint to clean up the outside. A pressure washer will just break fins off.

That works too.
More expensive, but easier.
