Web hosting issue

I have been with MDwebhosting.com.au for about 3-4 years, although the last year ever since their servers and whole business started playing up I have switched my website files over to Jumba.com.au, which i am happy with.

The thing is, my account/server was still active even though all files were deleted. I emailed MD to cancel my account as I no longer used it, but they told me I could not do so until my invoice for the next year of hosting was due – then issue a account cancelation.

Well, they have just sent me a invoice for 1 years hosting and i tried to cancell my account once again. This is the reply that I got...

We are not able to complete your 'Service Removal' request at this time
because of outstanding invoice payments on your account.

1. invoice # 203186 for Business Hosting Package (1 yr, Free Domain

– ensure your account is paid in full, otherwise the cancellation will
not be
successful

you

the RENEWDATE to avoid being charged for the next billing cycle.

I know, but the problem is I dont want to develop any sort of bad credit rating, or worse ?

I have let accounts lapse, never had any issues either. Australian hosting for the most part is shit and expensive.

+2

I use smartyhost and they were ok the first year, but started disabling my account due to non payment even though I had the pdf receipt from them.

The only decent hosting I have and I host 4 sites through them is Westnet, they are farkn expensive but reliable.

But can they do anything to me, in regards to filing some sort of issue under my name (credit ratings etc etc) ?

I am not going to pay them

Just write to them saying you are not renewing the hosting and will not be paying for another years hosting.

Ask for them to respond in writing that the account is now closed down.
