Free Coffee - Gloria Jeans

Murray Street Mall. Free coffee, they are calling it Genrosity Day... very nice of Gloria Jeans although the cynic in me says this is for tax purposes.

Kato 27-06-2008 12:09 PM

LOL

And how would free coffee help tax purposes?

Wrexter 27-06-2008 12:35 PM

my guess would be claiming it as charitable donations, claiming etc :P

i may be wrong, i know bugger all about tax, all i know is i better get heaps back this year.

bastards.

werticusness 27-06-2008 12:42 PM

theft loses? :)

teejay 27-06-2008 12:44 PM

LOL how would they claim it as theft when they are advertising its free?

mr_psi 27-06-2008 12:46 PM

TopGear 27-06-2008 01:01 PM

BALISTC 27-06-2008 01:06 PM

mattmy99 27-06-2008 01:06 PM

I think I wouldnt.

I'd walk 1km West down Murray St, then 300m down King St to Velvet Espresso.

Wrexter 27-06-2008 02:18 PM

mattmy99 27-06-2008 02:56 PM
whats Velvet espresso about, do tell :P
Ohhh y'know, its only the best coffee in the whole of Western Australia.

The other two goodies in the city are Tiger Tiger and Alda's, they both run off a back alley that comes off King St.

West Perth, you have Epic Espresso.

Everywhere else is just mediocre, although thats subjective. It really does depend on how advanced your coffee tastes are :)

NIX WRX 27-06-2008 05:39 PM

+1 for Velvet, though I usually can't be bothered crossing the road so just go to Punch

B4GT 27-06-2008 06:05 PM

Aussies cant make good coffee.

teejay 27-06-2008 06:10 PM

Coffee nerds FTL - you drink the shit to keep you awake, not for pleasureable experiences.

Splat_man 27-06-2008 11:44 PM

BALISTC: Just wondering what your opinions of lemon espresso in claremont are in coffee terms? i havent been there in 6+ months (shows how often i go to claremont) but the times that i have the coffee there has been really good.

Oh and normally i go to aldas for coffee when i'm at work.

Oh and gloria jeans is rubbish.

TopGear 27-06-2008 11:56 PM

If you like it you like it if you dont you dont??

I haven't been there myself, but the barista from Lemon Espresso did a fairly decent job at the last barista championships.

SPEC IV 28-06-2008 10:08 AM

The taste of coffee is naturally going to depend on the type of bean they use and the grind. However the preparation of the group handles is paramount also.

If you drink Latte next time check the bottom of the glass and see how much coffee residue is floating around the bottom. If you see lots that means the barista didn't flush the group handles out before pouring your coffee = old coffee grains mixed with your coffee. This can also make your coffee taste overly bitter = burnt coffee taste.

Don't get me started on the milk preparation :p

Does this little coffee club of pwrx discuss new novels and how comfy your sweaters are as well?

astralex 28-06-2008 10:31 AM

No, I'm good, coffee is for when you're at work at 3am, it's 2 degrees, and you've got fuck all else to do. Not for sitting around having a gay old time with your friends, flirting with the coffee boy, hoping he notices your new slacks...ghey... :D
