At a set of lights out front of Red Rooter Rivervale guy in a VS 6 banger waiting in the turning lane coming out of the units to turn right towards the Caz. Anyway he doesn't see the light change and the person behind gave him a toot. He tramps it and flicks it around the corner, passanger door comes open and passanger with very puckered asshole trying really hard to stay in the car (no seatbelt on ). Guy driving lost it big time, fish tailed into a parked car in the carpark off the side behind the place that sells coffee making machines. Hits the parked car hard enough to shunt it through a brick wall and we see the back end of his car come up off the ground a good half meter. We run the red to go see if they needed some medical assistance and he's already got it in reverse nearly taking us out on his way to do a runner. We follow him knowing he won't get far with no coolant and a smashed car. Probably made it 1km before he parked it and fled on foot, leaving the passanger behind. A mate was on the phone to the po-po for most of that and luckily there was a patrol car nearby. Collared the guy in record time. Scary shit seeing an accident that I thought for sure was going to be a body gone through a windshield due to not wearing a seat belt.

Definitely a sickening experience seeing an accident happen!
Apart from the bike accident I saw 2 weeks ago, I once saw a drunk driver rear end an Astra at the North Lake Rd/South St intersection...he was going extremely fast, before he realised the lights were red, and hit the skids. I'd say he rear ended the car at about 70-80km/h, and pushed it clean across the intersection. The Astra was caved in up to the front seats, and the guy in the Commodore kept driving. Had lost all trans fluid and coolant, so the car didn't make it far. He then pulled into a car park and fled on foot. He wasn't wearing a belt either, and the windscreen was caved outwards from where his head hit it. Had a lot of blood smeared right where his head hit it too, so I'd say it would have hurt a LOT. |
