my bros mate earns 100k a year in queensland, lives in a granny flat that his parentals own, only has to pay for food n electricity. he owns the 08 wrx the top of the range model. i would say he's living the life we wish we had. well i certanly wish i did. although i wouldnt buy a 08 wrx. probably go the 05 or by a 22b.

Pretty sure there is already another high end car timeshare business running in Perth for the fairly well off. The link above is Super-Car club starting December. $5k to join, then $28-37k per year.

Not for people earning $100k...more like $2-300k.

I'd say its Daddy's car in most cases, andthat Daddy works either in mining (company director etc), banking, stockbroking or lawyer. Or drugs.

Umm....owning an 08 WRX and living in your parents flat is the life we all wish we had?

You can earn far less than $100K and own a WRX.

Hahaa living at home and buying a wrx, that's not the dream for most people. I at least had bought my own place when I bought my rex new.

As for the exotics, damned if I know how they do it. I would say most of them are 'daddy's' car or young guys who have made some bucks off an investment or 2.

Just take a drive around the streets of Applecross sometime and see how many young kids (the majority are of the Asian persuasion) you see driving new expensive and exotic cars.... a number of rich parents live in that area.....

I have noticed that the average first car is alot better quality these days then when I got my license in 97. I had a semi rusted out escort, and I loved it. Best $500 I had spent at the time.

Tell him to keep working hard, with a few promotions and pay rises he'll be on 150K and should be able to stretch for an STI. Top of the range one.

Its called finance....

$200k+ a year isn't really big bucks these days. You might struggle with a Ferrari on that coin, but easilly be driving an M3 or something similar. Few of my mates have nice cars which they financed- glad i didn't fall into the same temptation, because now i'd be trying to sell the f*cking thing!

I ride with the guy who sells Bentleys in Perth, he says half of them are 100% (or close to) financed. And thats one brand you normally associate with the truly wealthy crowd.

There has been a MASSIVE increase in wealth over the last 6 years, a booming economy is there for the taking, seems pretty damn obvious to me.

If you'd prefer a wrx over a 430 ferrari, i'd like to know which crack pipe you're smoking.
