Uranium Mining Ban lifted - time to buy some stocks?
Well it has been long coming but in the times when global warming is becoming an issue (carbon trading) and the economy being down the news isn't really that suprising, time to buy some uranium stocks anyone?

yes good news for WA I think. Plenty of existing miners with uranium on their leases so hopefully we will see some movement and development in the near future. Toro Energy might one junior worth a look.

definitly a good thing. uranium mining is big business and there are deposits with plenty of years in them scattered through out WA. not sure on which companies might be the best to look at, but worth it in the long run for sure.

Well the infrastructure is largely there already. Plenty of existing mines who have the resource but they just need to build a concentrating circuit to treat the uranium ore much the same as BHPB Olympic Dam Copper, Gold and Uranium plant in SA.

Agreed, may be i should've been more specific. The flow on from the next generation of 'energy' is a massive boost to our infrastructure as a whole. Growth calculated in numbers of decades. WA = win!!

Lets not forget that this was probably factored in to many of the companies share prices.
Those working in the mining industry will be laughing though, more work! |

Game on for Yellowcake !!!
BHP restarts project after WA lifts uranium ban * November 18, 2008 - 3:22PM BHP Billiton has restarted work on the Yeelirrie project after the Western Australian government lifted a six year ban on uranium mining. The world's biggest miner said it was assembling a project team to evaluate mining and processing options, and would undertake a drilling program to confirm the resource. The West Australian government has opened up the state for uranium mining, six years after the previous Labor government led by Geoff Gallop imposed the ban. "It is now open to the mining industry in this state, if they wish to proceed with plans to develop the uranium industry,'' Premier Colin Barnett said on Monday. BHP Billiton said it would prepare an environmental impact statement and start community consultation. However, DJ Carmichael analyst James Wilson said it would be at least a couple of years before mining could take place as the necessary regulatory framework's to transport uranium are put in place. "You are allowed to mine it in WA, but how are you going to ship it and where are you going to ship it through?'' Mr Wilson said. "You have to get a framework in place. There has to be a state framework, not just a federal one and you have to make sure it is safe to transport.'' West Australian Mines and Petroleum Minister Norman Moore said on Monday that the department had met with counterparts from South Australia, the Northern Territory and the commonwealth and would aim to quickly put in place the regulatory regime for the mining and transport of uranium.
