youll be fine - they are just pissed at the government, not the tourists.

its all in bangers anyway - in Phuket i imagine it would be like nothing is happening

the only advice i can give is watch out for the ladyboys and the chicks who propose to you while you are shopping at the 7/11

Having been up there twice this year already... Im pretty confident in saying you will be fine.

we were up there during the last round of riots or whatever it was that made it into the news over here. I was getting calls from worried friends in Oz asking if I was ok... we never saw a thing.

Just stay in the normal touristy areas... and you should mostly be fine. the thai people are quite good with telling you where to avoid when there is trouble.

as you are in phuket anyways Im sure you will be fine.... the bulk of the trouble seems to be in bangkok .. and at the political sort of areas.. etc.

have fun !

1) Start consuming copious amounts of alcoholic beverages with umbrellas in them as soon as you get to the hotel
2) Forget about politics, riots and terrorism for awhile (and how to drive :p )
3) ???
4) Profit

I just got back from T-Land. Left from Bangerz a few days prior to all that shit going down thank god!

From someone who has just come back from spending 4 weeks there, I recommend you go straight to Phuket, then from the airport there straight to the piers and out to the islands.

As you are on the east side of Thailand, hit up Phi Phi first then from there move across to the islands on the other side of Thailand, that being Koh Pha Ngan, Koh Samui etc.

Total party islands, particularly Koh Pha Ngan - Haad Rin. When you're ready to bail there is an airport on Koh Samui i believe. Good luck and party hard.

Just got back 2 weeks ago... you'll more than likely be fine, and register with smarttraveller at least 2 days before you go so if something does happen then people know where you are and can contact you in an emergency, and can probably do something about it if you are stuck.

Hey dude...

I was in Thailand about 2 months ago. Having been to Thailand numerous times... (Bangkok twice, Sattahip twice and Pattaya for a week)... All I can say is PATTAYA! ;)

You want the full 'cultural' experience? You want to see things you didnt think existed? You want the craziest time of your life? :D Then it is the place for you.

Oh, and leave the women at home. Its a 'man and his mates' paradise... ;) Theres no problem with all the haters in Bangkok.... If you're not there! :p

Brent.
