Default Projector Questions:

Hey All

Building a new crib and I have a dedicated home cinema that im puting a front projector in:

Every website i see says a totally different thing about how big the screen should be ie hieght, throw distance etc.

Here are my details:

2 Tier cinema room
First seats are located 3.7m from the screen
second seats 5.2m from screen (elevated approx 1.5-2m)
Max throw distance is 5.3m
Max roof height is 2.6m

What size you recon will fit. I want to put in 140" which is 1.9m hx3.26m w but it might be too big?

Im thinking of getting a screentechniques "matrix" (aus made) screen which is apparently recommended by sony au.

any thoughts?

Cheers

Chris

Call Surround Sounds in Nedlands and ask for Adam. Tell him Phil sent you!

He will tell you exactly what you will/won't need and do you a good price
I personally think 140" is way overkill but it is your money!! Plus it would be fukn sweet having a screen that big. I think taking up about 2/3 of your display wall would be the trick, allowing you plenty of room to have tower speakers either side and a center mounted underneath (where it should be).

Basically your focal length will come down to the power of the lens. You should be able to find more than several projectors that will produce a massive screen within the 5m or so you have available.

140" is a big farkoff screen for the people in the front row @ 3.7m !! we've got 100" screen in our 4 x 4.1 ish room with seating at about 3.7'ish and its perfect i reckon.. 110 would probably be ok but anymore and you'd have to move ya head around too much haha

hey all spoke to screen techniquies in sydney

They said that the 140" will be fine for the 2nd row but might be a bit anoying for the front.

The way I see it for the 2 of us sitting in the back row we should be sweet and if the mates come over they can take the front hahhahah

the room is big enough to hold the screen front towers and centre speaker with a nice cabinet

cheers

Chris
