Toyotas withdrawal has paved the way for a championship that could potentially have 10+ drivers fighting for it, not one team. Like it was in the early '90's before Team Subaru, Ralliart and TTA took over it. Competitors each run their own cars to the budget they can scrape up. I reckon manufacturers should spread $200,000 among the top 10 privateer teams running their make, not spend all on the dosh on one team. Subaru and Raliart both pulled out of the ARC due to TTA team being allowed to 'homologate' their own parts whenever they felt they needed something, yet still calling the car 'group N' They ran an advertising campaign featuring the group NP Corolla in a picture with the slogan "Corolla Sportivo for $29,990" or similar dribble. |

The problem I see with manufacturers spreading money across 'privateer' teams will be how CAMS views the teams. A similar thing to what happened to LWR could be on the cards. LWR were a private team but had support from Subaru, and classified as a sort of satellite team of SRTA and were still forced to fork out the advertising costs, so in the end they pissed off to the Asia Championship if I remember rightly. Unless the advertising fees get amended I can't see private teams wanting to fork out big dosh merely because they've got support from manufacturers and still seen as semi-works teams.
