km's are a bit high.

I have been doing alot of research into the GU patrol's as thats what i am probably going to buy once my car sells.

I have mates who have GQ and GU patrol's and have read up alot.

'People' (in 4wd magazines) say, the pick of the bunch would be an auto 3.0L diesel, as the motors are supposed to be as bulletproof as the toyota turbo diesel engines. The 3.0L diesel 4cyl produces 2kw more than the 4.2L 6cyl and about 20nm of torque more, but I think this indicates that the 4.2L is not running to its full potential, thus maybe, a bit of room for improvements.

However, I would be looking for something sub 150k on the clock in the turbo diesel. Just for that extra bit of longevity.

My mates 3l diesel patrol is 20 years old and has done over 400k kms. He runs it on chip fat oil too (he owns a chicken fast food joint). Only problem is it stinks!

2000 GU patrol help
> Buy somthing else...........
Had one for about 6 months... only that long, cos it took me that long to afford to fix it.... Have massive issues with mapping and air flow, which mostly causes all their problems.
My advice, look at a Prado, one with similar kms should be about same $$$. Best car i have owned.... I had an 04 Diesel Auto with 200kms on and it and it never missed a beat.. I now have an 08 prado Diesel, was that impressed by them...

Try pickles.com They had a few going cheap a while back with pretty low kms..

Good luck

It's more like 1200-1400km and out of a 180lt tank, depending on model of engine and gearbox you have, but yes.. Far better than any pootrol. Both of mine have served me very well on and off road.

A mate of mine is an automatic specialist & I remember him telling me about 10yrs ago they had one of the worst & most expensive auto's to fix, he recommended NEVER to buy one, people were getting them patched & trading them in at huge losses then leaving it up to the next sucker to fix it.

They may have fixed the problem since then but I wouldn't risk it.
