Default Cash vs Salary

Hey guys,

Would it matter if you deposit large chunks of money into the bank on a regular basis?

------------------------------------------
Scenario:
Got a mate who has a full time job and a second job.

His full time job gets paid straight into the bank (Salary) while his second job is cash in hand.

He is on a 50k pa but also rakes in 500+ a wk on top of that doing cashie jobs.

If he was to drop that into the bank every week - would the bank/tax dept/gov look at him as if something fishy is going on since ALL jobs are suppose to be on the tax books???

For each time he doesn't deposit the money, the money will just build up then he is left with a couple/few grand. Now he is afraid of depositing money as they might think 'where is he getting all this money from?'

As some of you may think - 'just live of the cash and don't touch the salary'
You are right! he does live of the cash but sometimes he barely touches the cash as he doesn't need to and it just builds up.

cheers

but why would it matter, like trainwrex said he could be a 'gambler' or make money on dogs/trots/horses or something? thats not classed as taxable income as its a hobby and you dont need receipts as proof.

yeah i thought the same when i had a month of good runs at the cas and deposited a grand 3 times in that month, im sure there are bigger fish to fry for them, i reckon it would look less dodgy putting in a couple of k every month rather than doing 500 a week.

nah he just wasn't sure because they might think he is a drug dealer or something you know? but i guess a gambler could cut it, but he just doesn't want the tax dept to know that he is doing cash jobs as well because I don't think they would like that. I guess he is safe then ..lol
