The general is going to get it in the ass pretty soon. Im waiting for the message to finally hit home when the markets find out the govt is not going to bail them out this time.

just cant see how GM shares can go from $42 to $3 in 18mths and their not be major casualties. The others have dropped a huge amount as well but werent as high as GM.

will be interesting to see what happens.

Some say Holden might be bought by a Chinese company that already has trading agreements with GM. Shanghai Motors or something like that. A good entrance for them into Australian Market. Would also test Holden fans. They buy deawoos why not chinese cars.

Oh wait, The bogans will still be happy to see 10 year old cars and 40 year old tech engines running around.

bit like ARC this year. All running old model cars pretty much. Still more high tech than V8SC but still old models.

I read in the news over the weekend that GM has been told to prepare its bankruptcy papers for early June.

I believe the US government has told them no more handouts....the last one was swallowed in one gulp and did not make a dent in the debts they have built up.

I think GM will now begin to do some serious stripping of its assets so Opel/Vauxhall/Holden will be sold off as will most of their designs and tooling for the dozens of cars they build that nobody wants to buy.

I think GM will liquidate so they can wipe out the archaic unions and pension funds that cost them so much money and remove all the staff without having to pay them out.
In a couple of years time there will be a mysterious invester that buys the remains of GM for a token sum and the name will re-start but selling rebadged asian imports.

"General Motors skidded on the stock market Monday after reports that the government was directing the troubled auto giant to lay the groundwork for a June 1 bankruptcy filing."
