Default Lookind for a Puppy

Hey guys,

I have a smallish yard - 2 children (4 yr old and 1 yr old) and we are looking for a dog/pup. Any suggestions?? Our German Shepherd passed away 2 years ago and we think it's time ot get a new dog.

Also, I run a fair bt so I wouldnt mind a running companion.

Ideally would like a dog who is comfortable outside as well as inside and is preferable short haired and great with children/babies.

I sound pretty fussy but I'm not that bad.

Any thoughts on breeds or recommended places to buy.

Cheers

My husky and my mates huskies are great with children and love to run!!!

Long haired but if kept groomed are not a problem. They also love to swim

My sister and her boyfriend just got a staffy puppy. Great with kids, great for small houses/backyards and also like running.

Fox terrier. Hard case little buggers. Probably not that good with kids though (small dog syndrome).

My wife is really keen not to get a dog that needs a lot of grooming. We've only just managed to get all the hair from our background by our previous dog and he died two years ago!! Anyone got a short haired Border Collie?

Are Staffy's agressive??

Boxer FTW.

We've had two in the past, would definately get another. Friends that have had boxers before have all been thrilled and would never think of trying a different breed.

They're great with kids, our one used to stand between the swimming pool and the little ones. She used to do tha same with kids and the woodfire when allowed in the house.

No real health issues, very low maintenance, short coat, and boxers LOVE excercise. My two were well trained and would run along at my side no problems.

They also have a big deep bark and look pretty strong, so there were never any problems with burglars.

Kelpies for the win mate. They are your best friends and treat you like it! They take nearly no effort to train they almost understand english (atleast ours does).

To be honest mate your best bet for a great pup is to head down to the local Dog pound. We went to the Balcatta pound and found our little pup Balto there. When we found him he had been there since he was born and I dare say close to being put down.
He is the best dog I have ever seen, my family (who hate dogs) love him, my fiance loves him, and all my mates want to take him home.

All this from a dog nobody wanted? And there were alot of great looking dogs there!

The truth is I'd check there before the pet shop because those dogs are pretty much guaranteed to get a home whereas some of these great dogs, through no fault of there own (usually crappy owners) have ended up on death row. And you might think there disease infested phsyco dogs but they are far from it.

Good luck in finding your new best mate!
