Harvey Norman Hookup

I have bought a new house and it settles at the beginning of June.

I need a heap of stuff like a new king bed / 700l fridge / washing machine / iron etc.

Happy to heap it all together and get it from one place.

Does anyone have any decent hookups at Harvey Norman? They seem to have some beds I like. The fridge and washing machine I can get anywhere but thought it might be better to throw it all together.

Happy to give someone some cash on the sly to cover their commission they would of got if it had been sold at full retail.

I want delivery anytime after the second week in june. I wont be moving in until the end of July but it is vacant possesion so I can start putting the stuff in there anytime after settlement.

I am happy to get all the model numbers etc together and someone can just put some figures on it for me.

Also I dont need delivery...

Thanks

Brendon

O'connor is good so long as they do bedding.

impreza_GT 07-05-2009 11:47 AM

Furniture and bedding don't like giving discounts.
Electrical will sell you their soul.

pete gopal 07-05-2009 12:01 PM

i always aim at 15%-20% of their marked price...one thing that always seems to work is: "I've seen this at another store (insert Good Guys/Rick Hart/whatever) for $xxx can you beat this price?" Of course I've never been to other stores, which probably have the same prices on them but if you aim at 15%-20% on anything you'll be fine. They're still making money if they're selling it to me

I think the reason for that is because you can compare prices with the electrical anywhere whereas the bedding stuff (with the exception of linen) is exclusive to harvey norman / bedshed etc. Someone far more cynical than me would suggest that it is the same but they just sew a different badge on it so the retailers can protect their margins.

My sister worked in one of the Hardly Normal electrical departments a few months ago, they had a 20% leeway on prices so just hit them hard.

jOh4n 08-05-2009 01:08 AM

have u ever thought about super a-mart?
not affiliated with them in any way, but though they present as a cheap and nasty place, a closer inspection reveals their quality is very good, as well as their pricing.
i am in your shoes as well --> settlement last week of june.. *sigh*

nang3 08-05-2009 06:34 AM

have u got any mates that are coppers? drag one with you into a harveys and most of the time they will give you a very good price.. not this bullshit "000 services cost + 5%" sales that they try and pull every year but a decent price..
we were looking at a bombed couch for our theatre room, sale sticker price was $4k down from $5499.. i got them down to 3100 cash no delivery and they wouldnt even drop another $50.. took the mrs old man in there whose a copper and walked away with it for like $2710 delivered

teejay 08-05-2009 08:30 AM

So what did he do ?

Just walk in and be like "im detective john kimble, who is your daddy and what does he do?"

Boom, discount!

EXPLICIT 08-05-2009 08:32 AM

so theoretically i could hire a copper costume for $50, walk in save like 40% and profit!!!

SUCCESS!!

Kato 08-05-2009 09:27 AM

It's true! I wore this to Harvey Norman last time and they just said 'take what you want and get out of here!'

I'd give you something too if you were dressed like that.

Group buy?

I went into Rick Hart seconds last night and they supposedly showed me the "manager" price of the fridge is still more than it is advertised for here.

http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/p-1547-700l-westinghouse-side-by-side-fridge-wse7000sa.aspx

However they reckon that they are getting 4 in their next load of seconds in the middle of this month for about $1800. They were dead quiet and I reckon if you went in there with a carton of beer under your arm it would be even cheaper. Assuming it does not have a hole in the door the size of a football this may be the way to go. Certainly worth a look.

I think the way to go would be to have a mate that worked at one of the seconds places that could "accidently" nudge the fridge you want with a forklift and hence it is damaged and reduced greatly...

For the $100 Rick Hart Seconds wanted to knock off a damaged dishwasher, I would rather pay full price some place else. Nothing screamed 'cheap'.

P.S. I'm buying a dishwasher atm, so hookups would be good too.

If you find one on that appliances online I would be happy to combine orders and split the shipping. The shipping charge is $50 whether you buy one fridge or 10.

If it is only $100 agreed, go with the new one. I stumbled on the rick hart 2nd's in CanningVale last night and the store is a disgrace. Filthy dirty with crap everywhere. One of the guys there I think is new and has a small speach impediment and the other guy was young and did not care how much money he made. Hence I figured the case of beer would be worthwhile as they would no doubt sit in there and drink it during work hours.

Yeah I went to the city store where the old Megamart was. Empty as, but no real incentives to sell anything.

My neighbour is up there in the food chain at the HN store in O'Connor if you still need a good hookup Brendon....he's sorted me out with items in the past but bedding & furniture is seperate to electrical so not too sure what he can do for you in that dept.

Reaper 30-08-2012 07:43 AM

I am at goodguys in cannington.(Adam)
Don't have the TomTom world and it will be a hard one to find in Perth. Not all of us electrical places do the world gps's. Make some phone calls before you head out for the day.
JB-HIFI would be my first start.
