When we were there last year, we just used every meal as an opportunity to try the stuff we'd always seen on tv/movies etc..

Bubba Gump
Meatball sandwiches at a corner deli
hotdogs off the street vendors
bagels


etc etc etc

Sooo many mom and pop places that you walk past for the true NY experience and tastes. Ya don't need to be spending $$$$$ on a meal imo.. Spend the money on going to a baseball/basketball/ice hockey game and have 'game food'...

man that place looks absolute mint, i was watching Anthony Bourdain - Lost in Manhattan again on youtube! and it featured that place and it looks killer.

Hot Dougs = supposedly the best hot dog in the world! MUST TRY!!

Awesome! Thanks everyone for the tips, it's all on the list. There's no way i'm going to leave here feeling like i've done enough, impossible. When i get a chance i'll watch some Anthony Bourdain and see what he has to say.

Evl wrx, definitley. The first thing I did was grab a hot dog from the street and hunt for a ny pizza.

Down in SOHO is a deli called dean and delucas. A high end lunch bar that also sells really nice cheese, ready made pasta etc. Expensive by lunch bar standards but seriously seriously good.
