little about it;
Some crosswind landings - Boeing 777 & 747

Inspires confidence in the product....!

Note: For the non pilots; these landings demonstrate a technique utilized on "contaminated runways", (wet,icy or snow covered) and simply involve flaring without de-crabing the assymetric drift with the use of rudder to align the longitudinal axis of the aircraft with the runway centerline.....

simply awsome

it just says it utilizes the same operational technique. didnt say that they had anything to do with each other.

yeah i thought that, i don't see why you would want to land a plane sideways on a slippery runway, maybe you would have a lower landing ground speed?

In any event, some nice skills shown there! That last landing looked about 45° inclined .

I've been in a 4 seater which had to do the sideways landing thing at Balgo Hills (in the desert south of Halls Creek), pretty freaky stuff!!! Loved every second of it . The pilot also treated me to 2 climb & dives into the Wolfe Creek Crater... I think she had a screw loose or two.

for slippery runways, it's the equivalent of drifting a car, but they use the rudder instead of opposite lock

Those are som mad skillz!! wouldn't want to be the passenger and be looking almost straight down the runway on landing!!

so full thrust but a lower ground speed..?

equals less "lag" so to speak if the pilot needs some rapid throttle control.

First love was commercial aviation, then realised what was required to get there for me (RAAF) and decided mining engineering would be a easier option
