As many have said. Seek legal advice asap from a good family law specialist.

Courts now see that a child needs the presence of a father in their upbringing and as such have changed the system quite a bit, they will be legally required to go to mediation initially, to see if an agreement of custody can be reached.

Then if that fails, it goes before a judge in court. But again, tell him not to delay in seeking out a good lawyer specialising in family law.

If he's pretty intelligent he should pay for one consultation with a lawyer & find out his rights then hope she employs a lawyer, then write to him every day with questions about whatever he thinks are necessary, a mate of mine did this to his ex and cost her an absolute fortune but only some of his time, he can ask for bank details, make stupid offers like she gets 10%, records of pretty much anything & every time her lawyer replies it will cost her a minimum of a couple of hundred.........she'll soon get sick of it & maybe settle amicably.
When I went through it 18yrs ago we did it without lawyers, I stayed in the house & after she got sick of me she moved out & we agreed that I had the kids every Wed night, had them every second weekend, saw them play sport or whatever every other weekend & had a ball...........have done ever since.

Agreed. My ex had done the dirty and got guilty. I used this to my advantage. I was nice as pie to her and made the guilt worse. I managed to keep my house and car. She got $6000 and her busted corolla.
I worked things in my favour so on paper it said she had 20%. It was actually less than 10.

I went through a nice divorce a couple of years ago. Thankfully no kids but the silly woman did manage to drag it out for 3 years. Definately go and see a family law specialist lawyer. Even if only for the initial rights etc.

I can give you the name of the one I used. Horrendously expensive but very good.

Not a nice time for your mate to be going through. He just has to make sure at all costs, he needs to keep his guard is up and keep his cool, as she could possibly be plotting a few things up to try and set him up. Not saying she is/will, but if she wants the kids and house to herself, they normally try all types of stuff . Not from personal experience, but mates of mine have been down that track.
