Are there going to be Map parties again?

Denver 07-09-2009 09:55 AM

doubtful, unless in an illegal sense

map parties went out the window once the govt brough into control the reform regarding dance parties and various other events, in that people must be told the location of the venue prior to the event happening, cause until the legislation came in, every dance party kept the location quiet until that night, big or small, gone where the days of standing around forrest chase waiting for some nupty with maps to turn up..

that said, underground events have still been happening, but usually in smaller numbers, 600 is quite large and probably no suprise it got the attention of the police...

Remember we also live in the age of text messages and twitter, so news of these raves travels much faster and to a infinitely wider audience than a paper map ever could.

Strubaru 07-09-2009 11:53 AM

eclipse 3 within a dream back in 93-94? now that was a rave :) 3000 people crammed into malaga indikarts warehouse, i'll never forget walking out at 7am when the cops closed it down, tv camera's in my face, 'oh hai mum' LOL

tropikal 07-09-2009 12:47 PM

So if there was numerous fire exits on site, would they allow it ?? LOL

bumpstop 07-09-2009 01:03 PM

Here's a flyer I had kicking around at home still, I have no idea how it didn't get thrown out. I believe it's circa 1993.

The tickets were $24, and you had to go to "The Freezer" for the pre rave party where the location and maps were then released.

All the raves were an adventure back then, going somewhere to get maps, then making your way to the rave, oh yeah, then trying to get back home too lol :D

Strubaru 07-09-2009 01:10 PM

^^^^LOL

I remember going to sinatra's/freezer/aqua for rave maps ;)

Rossco 07-09-2009 01:22 PM

Or James St (where a lot of the Rave's lighting was 'borrowed' from)

Good memories!

Doms1 07-09-2009 01:32 PM

I love the illegal party scene growing up in the UK it was second nature to go raving in random places meeting at various venues an cruising there with a shit load of other cars full of ravers..

I have been to a couple of illegals in the last year in the woods off southwest highway, but they are mainly techno not much in the way of drum n bass they played a bit of dubstep in the begining of the evening..

anyone here still do the part thing if they hear of them? an get directions?

i used to put a few of these on and raves.
The scene is still alive and well as you can see in the article. its just the idiots that put 600 people into a room that can only cater for 300 that fuck it up for the rest of us.

There are many parties out near jarrahdale etc that run in the summer but they play mostly psy-trance.
if you want to check one of these out pm me your number and i will put you on the text list to be notified with dates and directions
