Bloody Ants driving me crazy.

What is the best way to stop these little bastards, With out doing somthing my dog will try to lick up etc.

out side they are just always in the sand and crawling over everything,


two nights this week they came in side for some reason , I'm due for my termite treatment to be redone, maybe they could do it also.

is there any home methods that any one has used or has same problem ?

We use Coopex around our house to make a barrier. You get it in a satchet and mix it with water in a pump sprayer then just spray it under the eves and also at base of walls around the house and garden. I reckon two or three satchets would do a smallish house or maybe 4 for a larger house.
I always use the strongest mix mentioned on the packet.
Can get it from Bunnings or any other hardware. It's about $10 ea.

If they are coming inside the house there is something they want, they will go for even the smallest bit of food so check the dog food and look all around the kitchen including around / under / inside the cooker, microwave, toaster, pantry. Look in the back of cupboards especially if there is one on an outside wall that might have a pipe coming through it.

I'm not at all suggesting you keep a dirty house but like I say they will go for any bit of forgotten food or crumbs or blob of grease.

You can get various gels and ant traps to distribute around the kitchen. I normally blob some of the gel stuff around where the sink drain goes through the wall and keep an eye out for them coming in and do the same there.

have been told that talc will work. just buy some talcum powder and sprinkle it where they are crossing into the house. It will not harm anyone or your dog.

I had them coming in though a window sill. sprinkled some talc in the track and they never came back. Talc also did not effect the window operation.

may be worth a try.

and / or find the nest which is alright if its outside and not inside a cordless kettle base like the guys from work... lol

lol only ever come in the house twice now over last couple nights must be something in the pantry as thats where they ended up, they traveled a long way too amazing how they knew it was there.

I had ant kill spray near door so they came from another window.

I will try this coopex stuff , Nest no idea couple empty blocks around me could be anywhere.

Whats coopex like around pets once its sprayed onto walls and frames etc and sand around fence lines.

Yeah coopex should be fine around pets normally drys pretty quick and leaves a white residue. We have a dog, 3 free range guinea pigs and 2 kids and the stuff hasn't killed any of em yet. Just move dog toys, bowls etc away. Just common sense stuff really.

Coopex is best sprayed on walls, concrete, payers etc and best under cover so rain wont wash it away. Sand just soaks it up.

ps. don't for get you need a 6-9L pump sprayer as well. Handy for spraying weeds etc later, just don't forget to wash it out well.

peppermint essential oil with water in a spray bottle is supposed to do the trick too.
i have the same prob, have some peppermint oil, will give it a go.

+ 1 for talc, totally harmless & the little buggers won't go near it, another old trick is to mix borax with icing sugar, they take it back to the nest and apparently it kills them???

Im pretty sure when they do the termite treatment they can do sompthing bout the ants at the same time give some pest companys a call n see what the go is or call the company that's goin to do u termite treatment n see if they do it as well?
