Photo/file hosting sites - for info

I've noticed recently a lot of ppl still use photo hosting sites such as photobucket, imageshack etc... but these guys seem to be getting all nazi with copyright and other reasons to remove hosted pics.

Just wanted to throw it out there, that there are much better sites IMO for hosting all files (not just pics) and effortless linking to forums and the like.

Found DropBox to be excellent... DropBox. Simply create an account & install a small app. It will put an icon on your taskbar which is a dynamic folder linked to DropBox site and is used just like a local folder. They give you 2GB (if you want more then you start to pay) of space to play with & you just drag & drop as you would any normal folder. Best of all, there is no moderation of files so you can upload to your ♥'s content. Also, there is no adware/spyware and the servers are lightning fast. To link a pic or file within the folder you just right click on the file=>Dropbox=>Copy Public Link and paste in thread post accordingly.

There are other good ones besides DropBox which work in a similar way, just Google it... but for crying out loud, give the photo hosting sites the big flick - I'm gettin dizzy with all the violation notices when browsing the forums, especially threads with NSFW pics! :p:p

Hmmm, thought it was simple enough? Try it out for yourself & you'll get the picture :)

lol, I understood what you meant, I just dont think many people will go for a dump site that installs itself onto your pc. ;)

But that's a bit broad isn't it? I've thoroughly checked out this thing & I can say it's malware free. The "install" bit is not done without the user's knowledge. Been using it for nearly a year now, I regularly use several scanners & had no issues with it.

Anyway, let others decide for themselves.

I'm on your side westoz. I have heard other reports that its good aswell.

I dont get my keyboard warrior on that much, but if i did it would be handy for super quick google image responses.

Anyone else care to troll in on the thread? Jk. :p (I take it that you are implying that I am spamming because I mentioned a 3rd party website facility by name... or is there something I've missed? Throw me a PM if there is. If I have offended in any way, then my sincere apologies).

I've been a forum member since Jan '03, two forums ago. - On my intro thread it was Jme who 1st replied with "welcome aboard, feel free to contribute to discussions etc". I saw what I thought was a bit of a problem with photo hosting sites (which are adware based) and attempted to "contribute" a better, non-adware solution. Btw, I am in no way affiliated with DropBox and I stand to gain nothing by mentioning it on here.

If you are happy with Photobucket et al, then go for it. :D

Peace all...
