Radar detectors - Serious Action
Ok... I have started this thread to get away from random abuse
of the govt and associated persons. Keep this thread on subject, no abuse. If you really want to take action do if through the avenues that the govt has setup. Personal attacks on the Ms Roberts do nothing and will not help raise awareness. If you really want to help you can try by reading this... http://www.adrawa.com.au/radarban.htm Then look at this... http://www.adrawa.com.au/action.htm Write letters to the relevant people in your electorate, not abusive, just simple, to the point and remain respectful in what you write otherwise they will simply bin it I have also looked at the parliamentary site about pettitions http://www.parliament.wa.gov.au/web/...ly+-+Petitions Perhaps someone would like to create one and take it to motorvation for people to sign. Sitting back and slagging off people will do nothing. Take ACTION now or kiss your detector goodbye. Take the right action and make it count. Together we make make a difference, get off your ass and get writing.

That arguement is very nicely and concisely put. Nice job from whoever wrote that.

Well fobz here is my first effort at fighting the good fight;
"Dear Mr Cameron, I am writing to you to express my concern over legislation being consider to ban the use of radar detectors on W.A roads. I am a little confused as to the logic and reasoning behind the proposed changes to this legislation. There is a considerable body of evidence to suggest that the use of radar detectors does not make drivers less safe or encourage speeding, and in fact studies in the U.S have concluded that drivers using these devices are actually safer drivers, being less likely to have an accident. The case for the continued use of radar detectors is rather elegantly put in the following webpage http://www.adrawa.com.au/radarban.htm , and I strongly suggest that you take time to consider the points being expressed there. Can I suggest that if you really want to make our roads safer, then toughen up on unroadworthy vehicles (especially brakes and tires). I am a user of a radar detector yet I certainly do not consider myself a "hoon" and strongly resent the government's efforts to pigeon-hole me as such. I am a well-educated professional and a responsible and productive member of society who feels very strongly about this matter, and will certainly have this in mind when it comes to casting my vote in the next election. I understand you are an extremely busy man but I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to explain the rationale behind the ban being considered, in light of some of the excellent referenced points raised in the web link above. I look forward to hearing from you on this matter." Will be interesting to see the response I get. |
