The rains a coming...

Just heard on the radio that there is a flash flood warning for northern coastal areas. Storm is expected to hit around 4pm. Just a heads up to take it easy as this is the times when every dickhead comes out of the wood work.

WA is bracing for hail, destructive winds and flash flooding from Kalbarri to Mandurah this afternoon as thunderstorms move through the region.

The worst of the potentially destructive storms are forecast to hit from midday, according to the WA Bureau of Meteorology.

WA’s State Emergency Service FESA is warning people from Kalbarri to Mandurah, inland communities including Mt Magnet and Merredin and the central and west Wheat Belt to prepare their homes for severe weather.

The storm cell is expected to be in the vicinity of northern coastal suburbs of the Perth Metropolitan area about 3:30pm and western suburbs about 4:00pm, FESA said.

If you are caught outside seek shelter away from trees and metal structures, the bureau said.

The thunderstorms are expected to continue in Perth until tomorrow morning.

FESA’s has advised to:
• Store or weigh down loose objects around your home like outdoor furniture that could be picked up and thrown by strong winds, causing damage or injury
• Prepare an emergency kit containing a portable radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit
• Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area
• Move vehicles under cover
• Unplug electrical appliances and avoid using landline telephones if there is lightning
• If you are away from home contact family or friends to prepare your property
• Construction site workers should store loose building material and tie down sheds
• Boat owners should securely moor their boats
• Campers should find safe shelter away from trees, powerlines, storm water drains and streams
