I ran a number of comparisons with the whistler, escort and V1. Escort and V1 were both very good, V1 was just a bit better notice and better features. The whistler was average at best. Didn't even alert on a couple of multinovas that i went through..

X band - not used. K band - hardly used, usually country highway patrol. Ka band - multinovas about to be all replaced with Poliscan. Laser - Poliscan and handheld laser.

Wait what was the point in buying a radar detector thats about to become obsolete anyway? (If I understand correctly)

WhoTF said they were obsolete??
It's already been posted many times before about their effectiveness on detecting the new Vitronic Poliscan Speed Cameras. Don't listen to the media's fear mongering / scare tactics. Your radar detectors WILL detect these new cameras.

I offered the PWRX price (my cost) for the V1 but apparently that was still too expensive
Why buy a radar detector when it may not give you enough warning??

For the results against laser (what these new Poliscan speed cameras use) please see our tests conducted on video: laser detection test

Whilst I have not personally tested the V1 against the poliscan yet, there are many videos on YouTube already. My own tests show the V1 is the best detector at picking up laser. Bob "Veil Guy" also confirms this: http://www.laserveil.com/laser/detec...ws-tests-2009/

ajayjay do a search on vertical mounting it's all there.

Jez,

i don't get a great deal of warning for lasers with the V1.. I'm thinking it's prob because i have the unit mounted up near the rear vision mirror where'as the cops are aiming for the number plates. Do the new poliscans work the same as the normal hand held lasers, or do they have a wider beam to be detected?

Also saw on the news that you could get pinged even going the other way with a reverse setup camera. Truth or Myth?

Cheers

Troy

The poliscans are constantly transmitting (like Multanovas) - that's the difference. Hand-helds are a point and shoot.

Poliscans are always firing laser beams down the road and bouncing off things
