Dear Treasurer

If you have something to say to our Federal Treasurer then now is the time. I took the opportunity and suggest you do the same.
email to: Wayne.Swan.MP@aph.gov.au

Dear Wayne

With all the recent controversy over the current governments new Super Resource Tax I have done a bit of research of my own. I recently took the time to review your qualifications and work history as I believe its important to know a bit about our leaders. http://www.swanmp.org/index.php?id=3

It strikes me as rather odd than you seem to know so much about the resource industry and private enterprise when you have no experience in either. A part from working as a lecturer in public policy at a Queensland University for a time I see no evidence to suggest you have any experience or knowledge about the real world of business and commerce. I know you probably think that my statement is a bit harsh but the realities of doing business in this country are far harsher I suggest.

Now I know that you will likely respond to this by telling me you have a stable of well educated and informed advisors at your disposal but really Wayne this hardly makes you qualified to be our nations treasurer. I suspect you are trying to do your best in a role your are clearly out of your depth in. Do us all a favor as a true Australian Leader and give up this madness of the proposed Super Resource Tax before you send this country back to the dark ages for good. I remember the Hawke/ Keating years and the recession we had to have and don’t want to see a return to it. Your media scare tactics and mongering do little to win confidence or improve this great country of ours. Stop the outrageous waste of taxpayers money and learn to live like the rest of us…to a budget.

As a (high) tax payer, employer and voter I will do everything in my power from now to the election to make certain that the ALP is not returned. With any luck you will find yourself back in Brisbane having a good old family bbq and playing cricket real soon. Have a lovely day mate.

Kind Regards

but where is the alternative?

liberal? - better than labo(u)r, but how can you vote for them. Will have to see policies closer to election.

green? - probably the least trustworthy party in politics.

family first? - dear god, no.

whos left? nationals. i could almost vote for them. Then i remember im not a citizen and as such cant vote. So i start keckling from the sidelines.

One Nation would be better for our country at the moment than the current Labor 'geniuses'.

At least they are upfront and say what they are going to do, rather than get elected in and do nothing but spend all out money and mortgage our futures.

It is interesting to note that Brazil - future powerhouse in Natural Resources is looking into developing a "Windfall Tax" which something similar to what our Ruddy and Swan has proposed so do not be surprised if this becomes a bit of a benchmark for the rest of the world that possess and are the future in Natural Resource exploration.

I think a "few" amendments might be in order for this Tax to pass as legislation.

Was it a post on here (PWRX) that was a letter from a Macquarie guy?

**edit** found it

Also emailed Wayne Swan :)

The naive Gen Y's may have elected KRudd in '07 but once again the ALP has demonstrated it's failure in fiscal policy.

They prob don't even read the emails themselves, but imagine how (the poor muppet tasked with responding to emails) would feel if 100's of similar emails were being rec'd every day!!!

Is this windfall tax @ 40% like what KRudd wants here?
