Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Con Info...
Hi All,
Posting on here worked well last time when I required services, so here goes again... I am chasing 2 things.. 1. Thoughts on Ducted Air Con brands, Fujitsu, Daikin, etc... 2. If someone works in the Air Con business that I can take our business too. Looking at a Ducted Reverse Cycle 4-5 zones & 7 or 8 outlets. Thanks in advance, any advice and or direction would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Ashley |
yup i've got 5 zones, 9 outlets + 12 or 13 kw motor...daiken cost me $12k installed. happy with it thus far. Much quieter than the fujitsu system my parents have but cost and extra gran or two. As far as I'm aware
daiken > fujitsu |
We have Temperzone 6 Zones 10 outlets with a 12KW Motor
It was $12K and the biggest waste of money ever. A total piece of shit with at least 2 breakdowns a year and a guaranteed $700 power bill when running it sparingly throughout summer. It is also that noisy you can forget about sleeping with it on at night. |
We've had a 5 zone 10 outlet Fujitsu single phase inverter unit for about 8 years now.
Faultless running and very quiet. Cost at the time was a shade over 8k installed. Would have no issue doing the same again. Jeff Mouritz did the install. http://www.gasair.com.au/home.html We had Daiken come out and quote. They seemed more interested in commercial units and fleecing people of money. GL. |
I went the Daikin system Ducted, 12 outlets, with the new Blue back lite all in one keypads, not the old two separated keypads, (big difference trust me)
Also second keypad up stairs. originally was quoted 13.5k which was bargained down from 15k. on the day of paying we gave them cash and got it down to 11k. Unit has been great works well. the controllers are 8 zone controllers, so common areas that have few outlets are on same zone. oh and went for single phase Inverter system. Was going to be 3 phase but we changed it. |
Thanks guys thats the exact sort of info I am chasing. Daikin & Fugitsu seem to have the best names, Price varies a fair bit though.
Anyone heard anything about LG or panasonic? |

Anyone heard anything about LG or panasonic?
They make TV's don't they ??? I always thought Daikin was the best of the best for quality. Cant say i have used any other brands. Seen various ones in peoples house's but haven't heard a lot of feedback on them. But we have stuck Daikin in our house, in laws, and brother inlaws all with out issue. |
Hey NVRENUF,
That sounds pretty good, would you mind PM'ing me who that was from. From what I've read so far, if I can get a Daikin under $10K I'd be pretty happy... Given that my unit will be somewhat smaller than yours, not out of the question i believe. Cash is always a winner.. I will be paying cash, so hopefully can come up with a similar deal. Cheers. |
yeah with the amount of outlets and zones you want. I would be wanting it less than 10k also. but who knows.
mine was install in December 2008 how ever January 2008 was when i made the original deal, as all the ducting had to be installed during construction. then December they fitted off all the components. So i can't say what sort of deal these guys would give you now. but at least with prices that a few people here have given you at least you know what ball park you should be in. Thats the people who did mine. funny the images of houses on the main page the bottom house is my Inlaws haha. http://www.wintonair.com.au/ EDIT: This is the new controller they do, not shown on the website, dont get the older style controllers they are shit, Hard to use and program. does any one on here do the final hook up of these systems ?
|
Know a lot who have or have had Daikin. Never heard any complaints.
Have 2.5Hp Ducted upstairs and a 1.5hp inverter downstairs both 5 years old not a hitch so far. Wouldn't even look at anything else if I was doing it again. |
+1 for daikin
|
Have a big LG 3 phase unit R/C Ducted unit 4 zones 8 outlets. A bit noisy when the compressor starts but other than that can't complain about the cooling and heating etc..
We went throught Aussie Air in Malaga. Great service and good on price. |
thats where i was most impressed by the daikin - the lack of noise, eveything else is pretty normal which is great.
|
There is not one point in my house I can hear the compressor. Even if i went to the wall on the other side of it. Still can not hear it. Very very quite.

actron air
Call ABW airconditioning 9248 9001, they take care of you at that place, maintenance is just as important as the product, they specialise in Actron Air(google it), Australian Company which are big in the eastern states,i work for celebration homes and we use it on most of our displays, the unit is so quiet and it's australian made. daikan is japanese! man I sound like dick smith!!

Thanks again everyone for input..
I am going to stop into Winton Air this arvo and Fujistu while I'm up that way. If anyone else has anymore, please let me know. Thanks again. Ashley |
Daikin FTW - I maintain a shitload of these units and when it comes down to the intstall price/running cost - daikin although cost a bit more when 1st purchasing the units, are far better quality than most of the other gear out there. plus the support ie parts and servicing are really good from what ive seen.
still havent had to make any warranty claim on a new daikin yet. temperzone units are designed for commerial use.... big expensive and only become cost effective when you get into the bigger package or big ducted split types.. |
Again, Thanks all for input.
Have been to a few daikin "dealers" this week and have found big variations for the same model, which doesn't really suprise me.. But NVRENUF's recommendation of Winton Air has come the goods so far, a touch over $11K for 8 outlets and 6 zone Daikin system, which is not the cheapest of the lot quoted, difference of about $400. But I believe a personal recomendation is potentially worth more than a few $$ down the track... Going to go in and see them early next week and see if they wanna do a "cash deal". Again, thanks all. Cheers Ashley |
dude call the number i posted he's a daikin dealer & does cashies
|
Ahh sorry mate, I read it as he just does the installs...
Will give him a buzz tomorrow, can I say where I got his number from? Thanks ashley |
They should do good cash deal. But you tell them they are $800 more expencive rather than the real $400
Zarne is the owner of the business. Let me know who your sales guy is once you start talking business with them. Tim |
Hey Tim,
James Fletcher is the sales consultant who has sent out the quote. Thanks for your help chief Ashley |

Thanks to the people who invented the air conditioning system people living today will have complete comfort to stay indoors while summer sun is doing its job. Even it's quite expensive to install ducted air conditioning, but the benefit will always become more important than the money..

Thanks Ozone Air

Now this thread has been revived, we are building a new house and have negotiated for a 12.5kw Fujitsu ducted system to be installed with the house.
The unit will need to cool around 260sm, I have asked for a price to upgrade to a 15kw unit however the builder insists this isn't required. What sort of kw are you guys running and what size area is it cooling? |

What sort of kw are you guys running and what size area is it cooling?
The 12.5 should be ok for that size house ( same as my house ) we originally had a 15kw single phase fujitsu and it was pretty strong. We had it replaced due to hail/storm damage and ended up with a 15kw three phase and it is too powerful. You are better off with a system that is working to hold temp rather than shutting off all the time because it overshoots the setpoint, which is what ours does. That's how it was explained to me by the aircon shop anyhow. The only other advice I would suggest is zone all your bedrooms separately, I ended up putting another one in myself afterwards as two of the kids rooms were joined and it was a pain in the arse and more expensive to run. |
How did you find the fujitsu? I've been told mixed stories guy at work has had nothing but problems like the system overheating and shutting down at 24 on a 35-40 degree day
I know our outdoor unit is being installed on the east side out of the sun |
Your mate must have had a faulty unit, mine sits in full northern sun and never misses a beat. Neither did the previous unit.
Personally I would go the smaller one, you'll be fine either way. Clean you return air grills regularly or your bills will go up. |
