That is terrible. I would not release a dollar more until either a structural engineer has signed off on it or they have ripped the wall down. We work under a different set of rules to the domestic guys but if I caught one of my builders doing that I would just rip it up for him on the spot.

I am amazed that the brickies built on it. My guess is that the supervisor just told them to go ahead and do it. Well done for getting photos before it happened.

I dont have the supervisors name. Yeh im glad i went down when i did and got the photos as they built the wall and covered the dodgy fix with sand so it couldn't be seen!!

I am very dissapointed in the builders, didn't think that these sort of things went on!! But i guess i was wrong

yeah, If it was me Id go and ask worker on site for supervisors number and ring him, I wouldn't be happy till they ripped that wall down! tbh in a lot of cases I think the Trades just go and do what they think is right the supervisors just look afterwards to see if anythings wrong.

Jeeezuuus I've not seen anything like that, we ALWAYS use a penetrometer to check our compaction and use trench mesh in all our footings, that is unacceptable and wall should be pulled down and footings redone.

I would suggest that the brickies just built on the f@*ked footings because they are probably near the end of the job
and didn't want any delays in either
(a) starting their next job or
(b) being payed for finishing this one.

True, did a bit of labouring through uni, and it wasn't uncommon for brickies to dodge up like that and leave it to the builders labourer to go back and fix shit up.

I do remember one thing though, when we had to dig the footings out for boundary walls it most def wasn't a five minute job
