The following may or may not be taken from a confidential Ford Dealer Bulletin -
'The Focus RS for Australia will have the base European specifications upgraded with a number of features important for the Australia market, (such as: Auto headlamps, Rain Sensing wipers, Parking sensors, Deflation Detection System (tyre pressure sensors), Bluetooth with Voice Control, USB connectivity). ENGINE - Turbocharged Duratec 2.5 litre 5 cylinder engine, mated with six speed manual (Power Output: 222kW and 440 Nm of peak torque, from 2300rpm). EXTERIOR: - 19" Alloy Wheels (8.5"x19" - 235/35ZR 19) - Bi-Xenon (incl. LED Rear Lamps)' etc etc etc Can confirm Manufacturers List Price is $59,990 incl GST & LCT PLUS onroads, so approx $65,000 d/away. However, final unit pricing at dealer's discretion. No options will be offered. Limited to 300, 141 units coming in Ultimate Green (the signature colour of the latest Focus RS), 78 in Frozen White (a classic RS colour) and 81 in Performance Blue (the colour of the original Focus RS) So each dealer will be lucky to get more than one unit. So $65k for a FWD 'sports hatch' that can do 0-100 in 5.9 seconds.
Or you could just buy the AWD STi / Evo and do it a second faster... Hmmm...

Yeah, they need to be 10k cheaper to be marketable in my opinion, but no doubt, all 300 will be snapped up for their exclusivity alone.
Then in 1-2 years time, Ford will bring them in as a run of the mill model and watch the resale on the first 300 plummet!!

Just like the first release batch of STI liberty's. 75k for a fully loaded one and a vast majority sold out. Not worth 75k but they got the coin. People are suckers for marketing and 'exclusivity'. This is no different.
I think its great they're being released like this. Seeing one on the road just adds to some sweet street eye candy.
