Aquarium rock
Any one know where to get some of this stuff, either texas holey rock or base rock. The prices for this rock at random fish shops is bullshit.
I could probably comb the beach for them but don't really want all the salt thats embedded in it either if i can help it. |
You'd probably end up with a fine from the relevant conservation department to boot if you beach combed as well Tim o_O

A little salt won't hurt fresh water fish.
|
Unfortunately, those "rocks" are usually salt water "live rocks" and they cost a bomb.
|
finding a rock with that sort of cave and holes in it seems to be hard and the only semi decent rock i see around the place is like $75 + per rock crazy
|
you can get them as non live rock but like you said cost a bit.
Might end up just sticking my large ship wreak and live plants. I'm still waiting on the aquarium at the moment couple weeks away. dying to get it. |
Have you considered drift woods for hiding holes? Usually much cheaper - although you need to pre soak and clean before installation.
|
I have seen the drift wood, as i have small bits of drift wood in my two small tanks.
the driftwood from the shops come pre soaked which is good. I probably will get a bit of drift wood also. but the rock does look very good |
have you tried bunnings?? might just be my imagination but i think I have seen it there.
otherwise I think vebas does it like $3 a kilo or something like that?? worth asking |
My new custom tank that is comming I want to keep everything real no imatation stuff in this tank.
But $3 a kilo would be good average price is about $10 a kilo. I will give vebas a call cheers Tim |
