In 2009 of the 109 people aged 0 to 16 killed on the roads: - 9 were drivers - 74 were passengers - 21 were pedestrians - 3 were motorcyclists - 2 were push bike riders This is out of a total of 1,507 deaths. Would love to see the data requiring the government to make this a law. Wonder if it was pushed forward by those making the booster seats? When are parents allowed to parent these days? Surely a decision on where a 7 year old can sit in the car can be decided by a parent. If not, let's just cut to the chase and have IQ tests to become a parent.

According to this data we should let our under 16's drive or ride bikes. Far less chance of being killed.

agree John, seems like most of the laws these days are passed because someone is making money out of it. The funny (or not so funny) thing is nobody seems to oppose it for the fear of being rediculed. Soon enough I'll quit my job, get into bubble wrapping buisness, bribe a potitian or two to pass on a law that requires people over 60 years of age to walk around in bubble wrapped clothes. If anyone questions it, they will be rediculed "what do you mean they look weird?? it's for their safety man"....

As far as my kids are concerned they will be in the highest possible level of safety when travelling in the car - that includes other peoples kids in our car. I am not so worried about my driving but the percentage of dickheads on the road seems to be increasing exponentionaly every year.
I personally find it appalling to see young children in the back of a car jumping around etc as they have undone their seatbelt. despite the ridicule given when I bought a Discovery for the wife - it does fit 3 car seats across the 2nd row and the 3rd row takes 2

should have been clearer, No anchor points in the 3rd row but fits full size "booster" seats ie complete seats when the kids use the factory seatbelt not just the little bum booster things.
Our booster for our oldest can be used either tethered or not dependent on age of the child and whether you need to use the harness or seatbelt. However fits 3 seats in the 2nd row with anchors
